How Does an HVAC System Work?
A: An HVAC system works by controlling airflow, heating, and cooling within a building. A thermostat regulates the system by turning heating or cooling on or off based on the desired indoor temperature. It has three primary functions:
- Heating Mode: The furnace or heat pump heats the air and distributes it throughout the building via ducts.
- Cooling Mode: The air conditioner removes heat from the air and pushes cool air back into the space.
- Ventilation: Ventilation brings fresh air into the building while removing stale air, helping to control humidity levels.
